I was thinking about entering into the Jones soda photo contest, but I decided to enter into the Idaho Falls magazine photo contest, because all the pictures I wanted to submit were all photos that I have taken here in south eastern Idaho.  So I think it would be more appropriate to enter into this one because the pictures would be more fitting for the magazine. 

The information that I submitted with the images were the same ones that I used here for the blog. I submitted my pictures today November 29, 2012.

Poster

So this was an older picture that I decided to use for my poster project.  I made it a 24x36 print, and framed it in a black mahogany frame and I also decided to matte it as well.  And as for the process of taking the picture, I went out to the drive in and put my camera on my tripod and connect my shutter release remote and locked the lens open for 16 minutes and this is what I came out with.  I used selective color to bring out the red and the brown in the Teton sign and the wood of the screen.  And I also used selective color to lighten the sky a little bit in the top left corner.  I had to crop it because the image itself was actually bigger than 24x36.

Both Images are edited from earlier in the semester.  So I just sized them down and then used the clipping masked to insert them in the boxes to make the template.  On the little logos at the bottom of the image I just cut down the opacity to about 40-50 percent and then went into the blending options and put a little drop shadow on them and added a contured edge to them to give them a blocker/3D look.

So this was a really fun assignment.  Night photos are what really got me interested in photography a couple years back.  But on the first image I was in Utah a couple weeks ago and shot this at Oquirrh Mt. Temple.  I love it cause it is on a hill and the cars would just fly by so it gave it a cool light streak effect.  On the 2nd picture, I shot in the kirkam building last at night with a friend.  I had her sit down in a seat and then I set my camera up and hit the shutter and put a flash on camera and had her make a straight face and then after the flash went off I ran around her with my flashlight making the streaking lights and then I put the flash like on her face to make the two face ghost effect on her face.  And image of fat cats I just used a 3 second exposure and as I hit the shutter button I was backing up and I zoomed out.  The picture of my Tom's I put them on my table in my room and put a black portfolio back under them so I could have a black background and took out all the lights and used the LED flashlight on my camera and slowly moved the light on and off of the shoes.

Scanography

I used the scanners down in the lab.  I didn't edit them in anyway.  The only thing I did was try and use a higher resolution inorder to get a sharper image.  And I had the lots light so that the back ground would be dark.  I think the hardest part of this was scanning my face.  Especially whenever you up the resolution, it scans a lot slower so you have to sit then with your face on or close to the glass of the scanner.

So I went out and shot these pictures of my friends.  These were their halloween costumes.  It was a perfect day for shooting.  But I used three different borders,  on the first image I used the burnt borders effect, then the flexible brushed on effect, and lastly I used the brushed on effect.  Not really much to say about them.  I just followed the directions in the book.

So I have a couple more that I wanted to post but I thought these 8 photos would be enough.  For the Blue Skies picture I turned it into a black and white photo and had a green filter to it.  I really liked how much contrast the green filter gave the image.  And on all the other images besides the portrait of Jennilyn, I just bumped up the contrast and made the colors of the images more vibrate.  The pano image is straight out of the camera.  And the portrait I just air brushed her face so the skin tone would be a little more even, brighten up her eyes, and brought out the colors using the selective color layer.
